Heritage Custom Framing
Owner Joel Moench sought EDC assistance to start his new business in Walker. The EDC presented several financing options during business counseling.
 

Huntin’ Shack Bar & Grill
The EDC worked with owner LaVonne Lee for a year and a half to develop a business plan and identify options to best suit her needs. The Huntin' Shack is located in Pillager.
 
Hunt Utilities Group, LLC
(HUG), is a for profit organization started by Paul and Lynn Hunt. The Cass County EDC helped them with obtaining JOBZ designation at their Pine River Research Campus.
 

Inside-Out Manufacturing
The EDC assisted owners Sheri and Mike Kolkind in establishing a cost point for production. The owners invested $40,000. “It was great to have someone to bounce ideas off because you want to make sure you are going down the right path during the planning process” stated Sheri.
 
JT Industries
Owner Jason Trout sought EDC assistance in development of his new machining business in Pine River. Financing was provided through a loan from the Pine River State Bank and the EDC. “EDC was very helpful; they prepared me for finance and project costs most people wouldn’t even think about.”
 
JenTra Tools, LLC
The CCEDC's "business planning skills were very helpful during our start-up; we wouldn’t have been able to do it without the EDC’s help."
 

Keefe Heating, AC & Appliance Repair
Owner Kevin Keefe expanded his business by investing $30,000. The EDC assisted in the structuring of the financing through his lender and the SBA. The business is located in Backus.
 
Kenwood Enterprises
Dan Witt owns and operates a granulated plastics recycling facility in Sylvan Township. The EDC helped with business planning, projecting cash flow and financing options.
 
Kline Electric, LLC
The Cass County EDC assisted Kelly & Ronda with information on how to set up a assumed name, LLC, Federal ID number, and answered questions on hiring employees.
 
Lake Front Electric
Owner Travis Vredenburg sought EDC assistance for product cost estimates and how to price his work. Project cost total $6,000.
 
Leech Lake Brewing Company
The EDC assisted owners Greg and Gina Smith in turning his idea from a hobby to a business. Financing was provided by Bank Forward.
 

Lee's Welding and Repair, LLC
Owner, Lee Wangstad stated, "The EDC helped all along the way with searching for a location, business planning and financing options." The business will open in Lake Shore in 2014 and is expected to employ two.
 

The Lucky Moose Bar & Grill
This Walker business is owned by Dawn Anderson and her mother Judy Anderson. The EDC assisted with business planning, projecting cash flows and financing options.
 
Master Care Automotive
Owners Chris Orth and Keith Ettle consulted the EDC when starting their new automotive business. Financing was provided by the Pine River State Bank. Orth said that the EDC was “very friendly, very helpful, got us on the right track”.
 

Next Innovations, LTD
Original owner, John Zacher, worked with the EDC in moving his business to the Walker Industrial Park. He constructed a 90,000 square foot building and the EDC coordinated a JOBZ designation for the new site.
 

Northern Sales and Manufacturing, LLC
The EDC worked with owners Jeff Drexler and David Handeland over three years to locate a site to expand manufacturing of Ice Castle Fishhouses. They purchased a building in Pine River and will create 20 jobs in two years. The financing was provided entirely by the EDC.
 

Northwood Marine and Power Sports
Mark Birkeland consulted the EDC when starting his new business in northern Cass County. The EDC worked with Mark on business planning and financing was provided by the First National Bank of Walker.
 

Northern Peace Funeral Home
Owners Jarrod and Jenelle Mankie received EDC assistance to start this business in Walker. In 2013, the EDC assisted again to help them purchase a new hearse with a Veterans loan. "As always, the EDC is very knowledgeable and efficient... always helpful in pointing you in the right direction, states Jenelle.
 


Optimum Cleaning
Owner, Sarah Hanson, received counseling before establishing her cleaning business. The EDC helped with deciding a business entity type, hiring and managing employees, cash flow projections, project cost estimates, insurance and marketing. Optimum Cleaning is located in southern Cass County and operates throughout the lakes area.
Pallet Lumber Mill Minnesota
EDC assisted former owner Dan Haggerston when he purchased new saws to increase efficiency. The EDC provided a loan with the local bank for the purchase. “Everything will move faster with new equipment. This will bring more productivity to our business.”
Pine River Bakery
In July 1, 2014 Julie and John Sigafus took over the ownership of the Pine River Bakery. The EDC helped the Julie and John develop a business plan, financial projections, and loan structure before they move to Pine River. They plan keep the old recipes and bring some of their own.
   
Pine River Laundromat
The EDC helped owner Nathan Sauvageau in starting this new business in 2012.
 
Pine River Library Building Rehabilitation
Owner Christopher O‘Dell. O’Dell sought EDC assistance before purchasing the building to determine if the rehab would be cost effective. “The EDC’s assistance was an integral part of this project – it gave me great ideas and the confidence to proceed.”
 

Pine River Small Cities Development Program
The Cass County EDC obtained a grant for $399, 000 which was used to rehabilitate commercial and residential home in the city.
 
Prososki All Care Service
The EDC worked with Mike Prososki in establishing his lake and resort business. Assistance included project financing options, cash flow analysis and coordination to keep it on track.
